Hi,

I have setup Dovecot (openSUSE 11.2) to be able to access my local mail
store from several mail clients and two computers. The problem is, that I
can see all my mail from Pine, but not from Thunderbird...

Thunderbird only sees Inbox and Trash. perhaps because it tried to create
those two. It does see the contents of Trash.

With Pine, local or remote, I can see all the folders.

The setting is:

mail_location = mbox:~/Mail:INBOX=/var/mail/%u

...as ~/Mail/* is where my mail exist in mbox format, many files and
directories. Alpine sees it all, no problem there. Thunderbird is the
problem.

i think those folders you're not seeing are not dovecot's IMAP folders,
but folders created by some other mail program, pine or kmail or
whatever. those you can't access via other mail clients; only your IMAP
folders.
Pine running on the laptop, via imap, sees all the folders in the desktop machine (the one that runs
dovecot). Why can not Thunderbird see the same?

Notice that all of them are existing, old folders.

Check your subscriptions - I've got dovecot working fine with TB, I
doubt if TB is the problem.

How do you subscribe to a folder?
Look at the account settings, somewhere it's called "Manage
subscriptions".

Are the folders subscribed to from Thunderbird. Depending on the IMAP
server and client combination you might need to do that I think.
How do you subscribe to a folder?

I have never done that. I use imap servers on my ISP, on gmail, on a
local, old computer, using wu-imap... All the folders appeared in
thunderbird, on any computer.

I have no idea how to subscribe to a folder. Not with Pine, not with
thunderbird.

Look, I've just started (first time) Evolution on the laptop, connecting
to dovecot on the server. It sees all folders.

Let me see, this is new to me... [...] Wow. There is a "subscribe"
contextual menu on the main folder! :-O

I confess that it is the first time I see this... O:-)

Sorry for the basic question:
